Another Day In Paradise
Mount Aspiring National Park; the Matukituki River. Not a bad office!
Working for Wanaka River Journeys would have to be one of the best jobs in the world. Not only do we get the pleasure of taking people from all walks of life on the wilderness experience of a lifetime but we get to drive them in a state of the art, high performance jet boat on a shallow, braided mountain river which keeps us on our toes. -We love that - and no day is ever the same.
It's the combination of working in the stunning environment that is the Matukituki Valley and interacting with our visitors that makes every day a great day. The scenery is spectacular. Mount Aspiring at the head of the valley is surrounded by hanging glaciers, waterfalls, cirques and skies of every colour and mood. The birdlife and fish life (depending on time of the year) bring nature into this very special place.
It is during our time on the wilderness walk part of the trip that we get time to really connect with our people. It is a two way thing; we love to pass on our local knowledge and tell a tall story or two but always manage to get something back. To know we have made a difference: by way of excitement, breath-taking scenery, information or all of the above makes this such an amazing job.
PS We also get to do other interesting jobs like jet boating the crew of #getoutalive during their time in Mount Aspiring National Park #lakewanaka
Mo Te Tangata Mo Te Whenua….it’s about the people, it’s about the place.
